The Black Pearl is decked out with true holiday gaiety. Spell-driven St. Elmo's fire still dances along the yardarms, but the glow is even brighter now with the addition of white fairy lights strung along every available piece of rigging-- every one of them gleaming with festive cheer. Fairy lights also adorn the ropes that have been run from post to post along the floating pier, guiding people safely along the path to the ship.

Squishy sprays of mistletofu dangle here and there, adding a distinct presence of their own, along with a few sprigs of perfectly normal mistletoe that have somehow also been put up. Red-berried holly and evergreen picked in the woods wreaths through all the railings and around the masts and even twines through the ship's wheel, adding a splash of bright color.

Along the starboard side of the main deck Rachel Grey has outdone herself, arranging a catered buffet with a variety of soy-based drinks, coffee and otherwise, along with tofu salads, tofu wraps, and small triangular sandwiches with the crusts cut off. At some point in the proceedings, Jack had pointed out the never-emptying barrel of rum in his cabin office, and that's been brought out as well to provide a spirited form of holiday cheer that goes particularly well in soy-nog, not to mention on its own.

The door to Jack's cabin office has been locked, and the stairway leading belowdecks has been roped off to prevent intrusion -- but aside from that, the rest of the Black Pearl is ready and waiting for the arrival of the holiday guests.

Rachel, of course, was an early guest, though truth told she was fond of late entrances, business did have it's demands! She was a simple, elegant vision in emerald silk cut to the latest Paris standards with her hair free flowing to her waist aside from the single sprig of mistletoe holding one of the flaming waves from her face.

Her first priority was, of course, her table spread, just to double check things. But then she was bright and bubbly, and more than willing to mingle with that killer smile of hers at the ready.

Ichigo's never been much for parties. They're just not his thing. Not being much of a social animal, he was just fine with staying in every night to study his schoolwork while others went out and parties. But today, here, things are a bit different. His life has been all work and no play lately, and he's getting sick of it.

When word of a party reaches him, he ignores it at first. But eventually his curiosity is too much, so here he is.

He's even dressed up and looking good.

Don't ask him about his outfit (the tuxedo, black dress pants, polished dress shoes, the whole works) of course, because he doesn't know a thing about it except that Bar gave it to him and it fits, which is all he cares for. Nothing to be done with his hair, nothing fancy added to his look, but at least he's left his Shinigami gear at home.

Now of course he just looks out of place, but hopefully that will change.

Well, red heads simply had to stick together. It was a rule somewhere, she was certain...though it was certainly charity that had her come over and not mention the condition of said red hair.

"Hello" she all but purred, smile as warm as brandy "Are you one of Jack's friends?"

It's not exactly for him to judge anyone by their hair, even considering how artfully and casually styled his own is in comparison. Jack studies him for a moment, then strides over.

"Welcome to the Black Pearl. I've not had the pleasure, I'm afraid?"

It's funny how espionage makes even the most ridiculous of mortal getups seem appealing. It's all about the disguise, baby.

In that spirit, Puck is in a suit and tie-- though there's no force in the universe that could get him to do a thing about his hair.

He glances around the place, appreciating the lights but rather unappreciative of all the soy.

--Hey? Who's that guy who just handed off the alcohol? Maybe he's got stuff that isn't soy-based.

Jack's smile shows his teeth, but seems friendly enough.

"Dear William. So glad you could join us."

He looks at the wine and gives an appreciative nod.

"Excellent choice of vintage."

Sometime later will Wellard be able to identify the music that Hannah is humming as the James Bond theme song.

However, they are both at the gala, dressed appropriately. (Wellard, outfitted by the bar (in a dark grey suit, and No tie). Hannah is from Neptune. It works.)
They are undercover, yo.
Wellard is eyeing the decorations with mixed feelings, before he is even looking to take note of who else is here.

It was more fun being a commissioned explorer to His Magesty King Arthur the Fifth of Leosford-upon-the-Ocean in Ambergeldar, then... then whatever he was supposed to be here.

Door and Tom arrive, as well. Door's left her Blackberry behind, or so it appears.

Tom does not look best pleased to be there, and Door seems to be explaining, very seriously, exactly how this entire affair will be most advantageous to LB Industries.

She pauses in her impassioned speech to take a quick look around, then squares her shoulders and puts on her best and most pleasant smile.

Time to get to work.

He arrives a little later than the rest of the guests -- which puts him just beyond the pale of being 'fashionably' late -- but he arrives nonetheless. And at the moment, he has not yet moved to greet anyone, but is instead surveying the scene with a cool, inscrutable expression.

Of all of the guests aboard the Black Pearl, Merriman is the only one who looks as if he even remotely belongs aboard an eighteenth-century sailing ship. Not even the most dedicated historical re-enactor would be able to find fault with his clothing -- dress coat, knee breeches, buckled shoes and all.

Commodore Merriman Lyon of the British East India Company may not be entirely sure what to make of those who have assembled upon the decks of the Pearl, but judging by his bearing and facial expression he certainly seems completely at home with the way he's dressed.

Food and Drink -- with Extra Holiday Tofu

Rachel Grey's lovely buffet table is nearly creaking under the strain of supporting the marvelous variety of tofu-based products.

Oh yes, and there's a barrel of rum at the end of the table, which contains absolutely no tofu whatsoever.

James heads over to fill a plate and glass, and may linger to see who else is there.

Well, no party was ever complete without some spirit or another, and Rum was certainly fitting for the setting. No doubt it would go well with no few of the desserts, festive soy puddings, and lovely soy cakes...

After all, she'd gone all out.

Was it any wonder she fussed when she wasn't mingling, checking temperatures and rearranging things for better effects? This party would be remembered.

Melaka is hungry of course: she's always hungry. But she fills her plate up sparingly, except for the tofu. There's a lot of tofu there.

Puck pokes at one of the tofu wraps with a toothpick, giving the entire buffet table a rather uncomfortable once-over.

If he wants to get to the bottom of this, it seems best to start here ... but all the same, he'd rather get to the bottom of that barrel of rum.

He edges towards it, toothpick still in hand.

Even with the lowerdecks and office discreetly marked off limits, there's a lot of space on the pier, main deck, and quarterdeck to explore. (There's even plenty of room for dancing, and music does seem to be drifting in from somewhere!)

The music, quiet as it was, was soothing for Rachel it seemed. A woman who had literally been living off coffee for some time now, though she certainly didn't look it.

She wasn't dancing though, no, she was at the very limit of the fore deck, staring out over the glassy waters as she hummed softly along. There was just something about the lake...

Nothing she could put her finger on though, and no doubt she'd be back to mingling soon enough.

There's something you need to know about reality.

That's, very simply, how you think it should be often makes it how it is.

There are limitations (sometimes), of course, but the result is you have one (1) red-head (no flames accompanied) with a delicate manicure in every color of the rainbow humming to herself as she absently taps the side of the rum barrel.

It may be sparkly rum, now, from time to time.

Sparkly with essential vitamins and minerals.
